What's on the move-in checklist?
Deposit received, inventory completed and signed, meter readings, smoke and CO alarms tested, a full property tour, and keys handed over.
The move-in checklist is created automatically the moment a tenancy goes Active. It records the physical move-in, as opposed to the paperwork that came before it.
- Deposit received — after which the 30-day protection clock starts.
- Property inventory completed — a full condition report, signed by both parties.
- Meter readings recorded — electricity, gas and water, with serial numbers and photos.
- Smoke alarm(s) tested and Carbon monoxide alarm(s) tested — with the tenant present. This is the actual legal duty; the compliance checklist only confirmed the alarms were fitted.
- Full property tour completed — boiler, stopcock, fuse box and anything else they'll need.
- Keys handed over.
Worth knowing: Imported tenancies don't get a move-in checklist. The move-in happened before Tenarize was involved, and generating one would imply Tenarize checked something it never saw.
