How do I delete a property or a tenancy?
Both use a 30-day deferred deletion — you confirm, everything locks, documents stay downloadable, and it goes for good after 30 days unless you cancel.
Deletion is deliberately slow, because a landlord is expected to be able to produce historical compliance and vetting records if they're ever challenged.
- A tenancy can only be deleted while it is at Vetting or after it has Ended — never mid-tenancy. Requesting deletion zips every document on that tenancy, emails the tenant a link to download their copy, and locks the tenancy so nothing can change underneath it.
- A property can only be deleted once no tenancy references it at all, and — for a building container — once its child units are gone.
- Both are then permanently deleted 30 days later by a background job, along with their files.
You can cancel a scheduled deletion at any point in that window. For a tenancy, cancelling also deletes the stored zip and emails the tenant to say the old link no longer works. A property can also be deleted immediately with Delete now if you don't want to wait — that option isn't offered for a tenancy, because there's a tenant on the other end who may still need their download link.
