Can I keep some documents private from my tenant?

Yes — mark a document landlord-only and it is excluded from every tenant-facing response on the server, not merely hidden in their interface.

Any document can be marked landlord-only. Mortgage paperwork, correspondence with a solicitor, vetting evidence and your own notes all belong in that category.

The flag is applied when documents are fetched from the database, so a landlord-only document is never included in a response to a tenant request in the first place. Walkthrough room photos are always landlord-only automatically — the tenant only ever sees the finished inventory report.

Not legal advice

These answers describe how Tenarize works and summarise the law in England as the product implements it. They are not legal advice about your situation, and the law changes. For free independent help, Citizens Advice and Shelter both cover renting in England; for anything unusual or contested, take advice from a solicitor.

Tenarize does not currently support Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, whose tenancy regimes are different.
