Can I use my own tenancy agreement instead of the generated one?
Yes — 'Activate with your own signed agreement' takes your existing signed document, activates the tenancy directly and skips the e-signature flow entirely.
Nothing forces you to use Tenarize's template. Next to Generate and send there's Or activate with your own signed agreement.
- You attach the signed agreement you already have and explicitly confirm it has been signed by both parties.
- The tenancy goes Active immediately — the same start date finalisation and move-in checklist creation as the e-signature route, sharing exactly the same code so the two paths can't drift apart.
- For an imported tenancy, the document comes from the compliance checklist's 'Tenancy agreement drafted' item instead, which stays document-gated for imports.
Worth knowing: This route skips Tenarize's own dual-signature audit trail — there's no record of who signed what and when, because Tenarize never saw it happen. The modal says so before you proceed, and the late-payment charge section will warn you that Tenarize can't vouch for what your own agreement says about interest.
