How do I end a tenancy?
Use End tenancy on the active tenancy, record the actual end date, reason and any notes, and a move-out checklist is created automatically.
- Open the active tenancy and choose End tenancy.
- Record the actual end date, the reason, any notes, and the Section 8 grounds if the tenancy is ending on a notice you served.
- The tenancy status becomes Ended and a move-out checklist is created: check-out inventory, final meter readings, keys returned, forwarding address obtained.
- Complete the check-out inventory — either by uploading one or by running a check-out walkthrough, which pulls in the move-in report as a baseline for a side-by-side comparison.
- Record the deposit return once it's settled.
Ending a tenancy also stops rent being chargeable through Tenarize — the server refuses a rent charge against a tenancy that isn't Active.
